Last month we introduced you to our new Shilts CPA Firm Portal exclusively for our Shilts CPA clients. We hope you are enjoying the new portal as much as we our and we look forward to receiving your feedback regarding your experience!

With the business tax return deadline fast approaching on March 15th, we would like to provide you with some useful Tips and Tricks on filling and signing documents as well as utilizing the new Firm Portal!

  • Engagement Letters – As a reminder, tax engagement letters (both individual and business) are required to be completed and signed each year prior to our beginning the preparation of your tax return(s).
  • OfficeTools eSignature – Tired of printing, signing, scanning, and uploading your Form 8879 each year? We now offer a new eSignature filing option. It is quick, secure, and IRS compliant. Simply check your email, sign your form from any device (including your mobile phone), and it is automatically uploaded to us. Complete this task in less than 60 seconds! To utilize this feature, please contact our staff at info@shiltscpa.com to let them know this is your preferred means to sign documents.
  • Shilts CPA Firm Portal Importance – We wanted to take this opportunity to remind you that your Shilts CPA Firm Portal is fastest, most secure, and the most budget friendly way to deliver your documents to us. Please see below for some tips and tricks for using it!
  • Locating your Documents – Finding documents in the Firm Portal is now easier than ever! When looking for a document, remember that we use a standard naming convention on all of our client documents. It starts with your Client ID, the type of document it is, the period end date of the document, and whether action is required or the document is just for your review. For example, you see a document named SHIL0001-1040 201231 AI. SHIL0001 represents the Client ID, 1040 represents the type of document, 201231 represents the period end date of the document (December 31, 2020), and AI means that document contains “Action Items” which you will need to complete. If the name ends in CC, which stands for Client Copy, this document is for your reference only and does not require action.

Uploading Documents From your Mobile Phone – Uploading documents from your mobile is a snap, literally! Simply take a picture from your phone and upload it to the Shilts CPA Firm Portal. Please see the video below for quick instructions on how to upload.
