- Franklin D. Gore v. Shasta Denise Smith – The Third District Court of Appeal recently approved applying backdating calculation techniques for the purposes of determining whether a substantial change in circumstances were present to modify child support. In the instant case, in 2014, the forensic accountant calculated a base statutory child support amount using previously agreed upon child support payments, and worked backwards to arrive at an estimated income for the Father in 2008.
